Joshabelle Suman-Chineye

Vice President / Executive Director

Joshabelle Suman-Chineye is a Vice President/Exec. Director, has passion for humanitarian and compassionate services. Her interests are children in care, individuals with neurological difficulties, youth at risk, women’s health, family mediation and reconciliation, and older adult safety at home.  Her career in Mental Health started with her work with Portland Hotel Society where she worked with the homeless population in Single Resident Occupancy (SROs), providing therapeutic and supportive services at Downtown East Side (DTES). Prior to that, she worked as Women’s Outreach Program Manager for Union Gospel Mission (UGM) where she worked mostly doing outreach for women and children. She has also managed several programs for women’s shelters and halfway houses with Elizabeth Fry Society.  

As an advocate, she has worked with Newton Advocacy Society (NAGS), the now Sources. This passion also led her to MOSAIC, Multicultural Family Services Society, Pacific Community Resources Society and Covenant House in leadership positions. She also worked as a Palliative Social Worker at Eagle Ridge Hospital and in Community Mental Health Sector for Fraser Health Authority. She has a combined experience of twenty-two (22) year with children, youth, and families service from different communities. She has a Bachelor’s  in Criminology & Psychology and completed a Master’s in Social Work at University of British Columbia.
